Baleen Whales
Cetaceans

Whales are catagorized into two catagories, either baleen or toothed. Baleen whales have huge plates, called baleen, hanging from their upper jaw that they use to catch smaller fish, krill, and plankton. Baleen whales are bigger than toothed whales, but there are fewer of them. There are only eleven species of baleen whales, but there are many more species of toothed whales. Baleen whales were mainly the ones whaled, although there were some large toothed whales.
